Crackling sound - help!

Hi all

I've always had an issue with the onboard sound of my computer but it's recently become much more noticeable and annoying. Essentially when I'm playing games the sound regularly crackles and the computer jerks at the same time, as if the frame rate has just dropped massively.

I think it's something to do with my motherboard (an Asus A7N8X), as I know there's a recognised issue there. However given how out of date my computer now is, I haven't been able to find anything on the forum. I have googled, but the suggestions there haven't helped.

Anyone know how to stop this occuring?

Have the same board and also have the same problem. Even with my audigy 2 sound card...if there is a solution I haven't found it. It got better with a different soundcard other than on board but it is definately still there.

I had a problem with that board too, i solved it by adding a dedicated sound card.

Moving my wireless NIC to PCI slot 4 rather than 3 seems to have sorted it out
