omg i cant take it anymore, ive had this crackling noise since day one of my new build.
im currently using an E6600 on a Asus P5B and using the onboard sound (for now)

im getting this annoying crackling sound, from what i know its from the green jack only (main audio jack or watever it is)

im using the speedlink Medusa Pro Gamer Edition, ive tried it with several headsets and i still get the problem so im convinced its the onboard sound.

ive been googling it n a few people suggest new drivers but im up to date, a bios flash but that went horribly wrong n others suggest say turning down the stuff in the soundmax panel till it goes away, but when i do this it causes me to lose the sound of which is infront of me (on css which is incredibly horrible in matchs).
if i mute the front audio or green jack watever it is i get rid of all my msn sounds etc n it just anoys me

what do i do?? just buy a nice soundy card???

My problem was the cmss 3Rd it was causing crackling both to my 2.1 crappy headphones and even when i switch of the speakers (5.1 logitech z-5500) on headset mode with cms3D they crack at especially high volume

Could just be a Bios issue... i know there is an issue like that on the P5N32-E... might be the same for the P5B. Flash bios

i attempted to flash bios...
the pc switched off and never to turn on again until i removed the sata cable to my main hdd then it what power up n say overclocking error or something
tried it again n did the same

lol i also have no fones sept my mobile anywere near me :(

thing is its the green jack only, the front speakers for the medusa's is powerd by the green jack, if i turn it off by the control thing on the wire the buzzing goes

well my computers right next to me pritty close so could that be the problem??? ive had my mobile away from my pc all day n its still crackling :(

P5b sound chip is notoriously crap. Mine crackles even with the new drivers, try disabling everything not used in the control panel of soundmax, then search google for a match and see if anyone else has fixed it.
