You when you turn speakers up too loud they give that awful crackly sound...

well my sound is like that all of a sudden...

even through headphones, ive altered the sound levels and everything, turned off fancy 3d affects and such.. but i still get a slight awful crackly-ness to my audio... ive just noticed it today... before i could have speakers or headphones at a good level without having audio problems i.e. crackly.

its really starting to annoy me.

Hi there,

I've been getting something similar to you since I changed the motherboard (same as yours), CPU and operating system.

With my old system (Nforce 2 and AthlonXP) the sound was fine but now whenever there is some hard disk activity I hear a crackling sound.

I've tried moving the soundcard to different PCI slots but it hasn't helped.

maybe something to do with compatabilty probs with certain x-fi cards that are run on motherboards with NF4 chipsets? Although the latest versions of x-fi cards that have a heatsink fitted are supposed to be better.
There is a long thread on creative forums about this.

Hi there,

I've read the thread on the Creative forum you mentioned and it seems the problem is suppose to occur on the cheaper X-Fi cards. Possible fixes includes updating the motherboard BIOS or even sending back the card to Creative to have it fixed.

However I've got the Elite Pro and it worked fine before with the NF2 motherboard. Probably your right and its some compatibility problem with NF4 motherboards?

This problem is pretty annoying!
