Crackly sound

When no sound is playing I can hear a crackly sound out of my 2 speakers. I have seti running, and I noticed when I pause the computations, the crackling goes! It's un-noticeable to me when music is playing, but I have to turn down the volume when im not listening to music, this is partially annoying. How do i fix this?

Possibly IRQ issue or Latency Setting in Mobo Bios (if you have 1).

it might be the sound of your cpu thinking away. some electrical leakage being picked up by your soundcard , its a noise floor. its never as bad to warrant turning the sound down , not in my experience, so the above is just a guess.

I assumed a PCI Card.

Never used since 2001 (when I got back into PC's) as all my own builds have a Dedi Soundcard.

Sounds like EMI to me.
