I've just had eBay side with me on a laptop I bought. Granted it was spares/repairs but the description said "I don't know what's wrong with it".

I received the laptop, clearly been opened, screws all chewed, fat swollen battery, thermal paste everywhere. Right, but you do know the battery is knackered/dangerous and you've had a go at diagnosing.

Seller refused a refund as it was spares/repairs. Sure so that absolves you of listing truthfully?

Been on eBay for 20 years, 1000+ transactions, and people never change.

Its just about possible the person is an absolute tool
Saw the proper Pcie16 risers, saw a mining riser for 1/5 the price and assumed it was the same

I mean it would actually still function as a graphics card, it would just be seriously nerfed! (running at x1 rather than x16)

Always annoys me when I see people put ***VERY RARE*** in the titles of stuff.

Surely if it's rare and sought after, people already know how rare it is. Otherwise do they think adding rare to the title will make regular sods want to spend £400 on the ***VERY RARE*** 50p coin you're selling?

No joke. I've seen 5 pounds notes selling for 4.80 inc postage because seller thought it was a rare serial ID! :D

Thats unique!
Oh wait every £5 note is :)

I have this argument at work with a couple of ladies who are constantly checking 50p coins.
Based on some nonsense you see in the sun every so often.

There is a short window of notes being worth far more than face value. Collectors want the AA00 type stuff. But its very short lived and they need to be truly very good or mint condition. (the one time mint actually means something!)
A few people want odd things like AK47 etc

That really does make me laugh. I buy a lot of books on Ebay and you will get some stating that it's very rare and hard to come by. How come there are many others that are identical in the search results for less money then? Tools!!

ebay is crap full stop, only dodgy traders on there these days

That's a load of nonsense. There are plenty of legitimate sellers on there, many of them have better customer service than online retailers. As a example, I ordered a book from a seller, received it a couple of days later and thought that my dad would like it so ordered a second copy from the same seller. They contacted me within a few minutes and asked if I made a mistake because I had already bought a copy from them. I explained that this one was for my dad and they got his address from me and sent it to him by next day post. That was great service. I have purchased car parts, computer parts, books, DVD's, Blu-Rays, cooker elements and many other things from Ebay and have rarely had a problem. The one or two times I have had a problem it was sorted by the seller quickly. I have even had no problems as a seller on there either.

The 50ps are genuinely collectable - I can't recall which one, but some are over 500 quid.

Similar situation here, I bought a comic book and my wife bought a very similar issue for me for my birthday, the seller contacted her asking if it was a duplicate order (it wasn't, she knew I was after this variant cover and bought it for me).

I find that ebay does have untruthful sellers from time to time, I've ordered several afghan rugs from a seller who only sent one but the same tracking on all, and a similar ordeal with chinese porcelain. Ebay were good at sorting it out however and I receieved a full refund.

I buy and sell on there often and find my experience overall very good.
