On the road....
Bah !

"Mr Incredible strikes again" as my girlfriend said to me! - it appears I don't know my own strength! :o

Why?

I manage to completely snap off the drivers door handle on my e38 7 Series.

Lesson for the day is not to try to open your door before you unlock it.....

Not plastic as I first thought, but, made of metal!

Yet, I've managed to tear the thing clean off! :o

About £70 for a fitted replacement, so I'm told.

Years of Fords & Vauxhalls with plastic door handles and no problems, give me something well built, and I break it!

Just what i was thinking, i drove around in a 1993 Citroen Xantia 1.9TD for a while and it never seemed to be an issue from that point of view, it was a complete shed, women really dont care.

My Girlfriend has an Xantia 1.9TD also, indeed they don't care - although, she does like to drive my e38.

Well, I'll carry on looking a complete plank by trying to lean over to open my drivers door from the o/s rear door. :o - Its booked in for next week.

You've.... booked it in? Surely fitting a doorhandle isnt hard?

The £30 I'm being charged for fitting the new handle is a bargain to me, not to mention I don't have the time, nor workshop manual etc to dismantle the door. - I spent about 20 minutes earlier trying to work out where I'd start in dismantling the door to get at the parts, I could'nt even find the blamking plugs to whatever screws lurk underneath.

Another thing, I don't want to screw about with the Airbag thats built into the door.

If this is what my heavy hands do to my handle, I dread to think what I'd do to the door's cards & innards! :o

And, yes, I'm too bloody lazy! :p ;) :D
