I've got a really weird problem with my PC at the moment and I've had it since I bought a new mobo/CPU/Heatsink.

Everything was fine for a while. I loaded windows XP, updated the bios and updated windows. Then I went to install the Graphics drivers, then restarted the computer, Windows would hang at startup and safemode would hang at 'AGP440.SYS' and there seemed to be nothing I could do until I read that disabling the agp440.sys service would allow me into windows and safe mode again. I uninstalled the graphics drivers then had a look around for some different chipset drivers (had a hunch ;) ) and voila , there was a set of old chipset drivers that seemed to work and everything was fine again with the gfx drivers installed.

Later that night I had a good game of MTA (GTA:SA mod) and the system was stable . The next day I tried playing RACE:WTCC and about 5 minutes into the game the system crashed and would'nt post. I took out the keyboard/sound/controller cables and tried booting again and it booted fine!

After trying RACE:WTCC again the system just crashed after 5 minutes and wouldnt post . i managed to get the pc up and running again , so I tried a little overclocking. I got the CPU to 2.25ghz (E2160) and everything was stable in windows, I then tried MTA and the system hung and wouldnt post again for about 10 minutes.

The system crashing and not posting is making think that the PSU is at fault and is tripping some sort of safety mechanism because it's not quite powerful enough. But then again I've Ran 3Dmark2006 and it was fully stable through that, But then tried it again and it crashed on startup.

Has anyone had any experience of this before? I've tried everything and it's not working. So would appreciate someone else's input :)

Sorry for the long post, but its been a long couple of days trying to sort this bloody computer out :D .

If it seemed to start happening around that time, I would reflash to your original BIOS version.

I can but I wouldnt want to , My processor is only supported with the latest bios for my motherboard. Older bios's run the Processor with the wrong settings.

Edit: Forgot to post whats in my case.

Seasonic 430W PSU

ASRock 775i65G
2GB DDR400 Ram

After the PC crashed earlier after i tried to run a game, it hasnt posted once . All the fans spin up and the hard drives sound as though they are being detected, but i get no beep.

One thing I noticed was that the graphics card fan didnt slow down to its normal speed. It stays on full like it does a couple seconds after first turning the PC on .

This is what happened before and I had to totally rebuild the PC before it would post again.

I really get the feeling that it's either something to do with the mobo or its the PSU.

:(

take alook,
but yep, mine doesnt post at all. and i have tried everything twice+ and rebuilt it all so many times.

let me know if you find a solution!!!

I had a look in my PSU manual and saw that there is a way to reset your powersupply. I tried it and now my system is working again, although I dont want to try any games yet as i dont want it to crash again :p .

To reset my psu I had to switch the I/O on/off really fast a couple of times.

This is pretty much confirming that its my powersupply at fault, so im going to buy a new one , preferably the OCZ 600w that is so cheap atm .

Edit: To CooliceT , I dont think we have the same problem. so I doubt the above will help. Sorry m8 .
