Run with minimal parts, ie one memory module, cpu. hd & gpu.

Was the system overclocked? try a doing a CMOS reset.

only thing i have running now is - power supply / mo bo / 1 stick mem / cpu / re-set cmos

ran for 20 secs then shut down / then for another 1 min repeatly / tried to start in split second attempts now dead again ?

thanks

is the cpu fan working and heatsink not loose sounds silly but my very very old pc did that once and the fan was not spinning cpu was overheating and thermal shutdown activated from the bios

if its not a heat issue then ...

try different ram in different slots,
check all your power cables
try a different psu
try a different cpu

if none of that works it suggets mb failure?

if it's just auto shutting down during bootup then must be something from bios telling it too have you tried to quickly jump into bios screen at look at the cpu temp
