Far far away....
Well las night i was outside with me little girl, she was riding her bike, next thing I could hear this almighty crash. I didn't think much of it as I couldn't see anything.

The more I thought about it the more it dawned on me it that the noise seemed to come from the our private car park at the back of the house.

Next to our house is a block of apartments which has an entrance at the front, you can see through the entrance to the rear entrance and onto the car park.

The nest thing I see is a blue Vectra with its hazard lights flashing clearly park where it shoud not be.

At this point was the sudded realisation that the Vectra had hit a car in the region where one of our cars was parked.

I run round the back to see the Vectra embedded in a car and the owner saying that handbrake must have failed and rolled back.

The car park in question has a drop from front to back of roughly 4 to 5 feet, the cars in question were parked accross the slope. The disctance between the Vectra and the car it hit is roughly 20 feet across at 90' to the slope.

The result was:

Virtually no damge to the Vectra, the car it hit has a crumpled boot, cracked bumper, smashed rear window at least.

Phew ? Because our car is the Audi.

Yet another Vectra handbrake failure! There have been many cases of this, there was a big article in the Which? magazine last month about it. Some woman was like 'yeah I parked my Vectra on my 45 degree drive* and it rolled back and smashed into my neigbours house' and I remember thinking hmm, so, you have a car KNOWN to have a dodgy handbrake and a crazily steep drive yet you don't park it in gear?

*This must clearly be an exaggeration on her part since without a low ratio gearbox parking on it would be almost impossible...

Does it not worry you that said Vectra is now seemingly parked opposite your (very nice, I must add) Audi? :p

woah, super lucky there! if the car had been his on the side the corsa could easily of made contact!

i dont leave my car in gear when i park it, i should probably get into the habbit but i just was never told to do so when learning, and the habbit of not doing it has stuck !

Prolly more to do with Vectra drivers. Reminds me of one of a car my Dad had to repair.

Came in to the garage with a broken handbrake. Yet when tested on a steep hill, it held the car fine. Taking a closer look at the driver he wrote "Withoutabix" on the job card.

very lucky escape there.

With a E39 you have to be mad not to put it in gear the handbrake is terrible, you would think it was out of a mini. :p

Dam vauxhall to heck for the vectra tho.

I don't get it.

EDIT - the corsa can't have had much of a handbrake on either as it looks like it shifted forward and broke the fence!
