Crash Whilst Reinstalling Vista

I went to reformat/reinstall windows on my new vostro 1700 and it crashed on the last section of "completing installation". What shall I do? I had to reset it as it had been like that for about 2 hours, doing nothing on the same level on the progress bar.
Shall I just restart the installation?

Thanks for the quick reply. I just booted it from the DVD and selected the partition to install it on. I didnt see an option of reformatting?

Im probably being dumb, but where is this option? As now all I have access to is the BIOS. I cant get into windows as it keeps crashing towards the end of installation.

I dont get any of those options. I think Im going to have to reformat it from the command prompt. Any ideas how to do this?

When I click "format" it doesnt seem to do much. I just get an hourglass for a few seconds.

Well, having done that, its still not working.

The task bar is about 60% of the way through of "2 Installing Windows" and it hasnt moved for a long time.

EDIT - or am I being impaitent? Its just that theres no sign of the HDD doing anything and its been like that for about 1 hr.

No its brand new out of the case. Ive only had it 1 day
