Just spotted a new demo on Fileshack called Crashday. It's a mix of trackmania/n4s/carmageddon/etc

Developed by new teams 'Moon Byte' and 'Replay Studios''. 'Crashday' blends elements of all the best action games such as Burnout, Stuntman, Destruction Derby, Flatout, Track Mania, Tony Hawk and Carmageddon into one glorious package for destruction fans. With a fantastic looking engine, the game delivers glorious visuals, open environments, great looking vehicles and weapons at your disposal which has been carefully crafted for PC gamers to enjoy come February 2006.

Yep I downloaded it after I saw screenies of it on the screenie thread. I really really like it, but I feel it will become tiresome in no time and if I bought the game i'd play it lots for a month then never use it again, just seems like one of those games.

Just been playing the demo too - it's pretty good!

Reminded me of the old Interstate '76/'82 days! Played those for hours on end!

Anyone got any ways of getting big scores in the stunt mode?

I can barely make 100,000 by the time the computer cars are finished

I love the game but I find it really hard to line up the car and get a shot at the other cars. Would be better if the missiles had a lock on feature. It's also a game that really needs to be played with a controller, I find controlling the cars with the keyboard a bit difficult.

Try using the handbrake - I found that made it much easier

I also tended to move slowly as that made the cars easier to move, and I only used nitro when I needed to get out of the way in a hurry!

Hmm I installed the demo but when I try to run it, I get this..

Any ideas?

edit - I just googled it and I see it's a common problem, something to do with emulation software or virtual drives possibly. This sort of crap is why I prefer consoles nowadays, there's none of this nonsense. I have disabled the software of the aforementioned type that I use but it still doesn't work.

edit 2 - I found a solution via google involving the registry.

Tried the game for five minutes, it's crap.. a poor Burnout wannabe. Oh well.

I downloaded / installed it yesterday.

Graphics wise, I was quite impressed, it looked quite nice and ran very smooth on my PC. Gameplay was pretty fun, it had the elements of say Carmegedon but without all the overly stupid gore (i.e. stuiable for younger kids) my only comment would be that handling was pretty poor, turning was quite difficult

I rate it 6.5/10

if you hold up, down, left or right after you have been in the air(ie, take foot off accelerator, then on again when in air for up) you can flip, spin etc.
