crashes due to USB modem?

Hi Gyus,
would anyone come across pc crashing due to modem connected via USB and not LAN cable?It seems that this is the case. Anytime I downloaded something when USB plugged, random crashes occured. I have tried to reinstall few times but didn`t help. So as a last resort I have tried to plug LAN instead and system is stable sofar. What can be the problem? Driver for MOBO or driver for Modem? Incompatibility. Didn`t have a problem with this on my previous PC.
Any suggestions?

Stick with the LAN option - USB modems are useless.

Virgin Media USB modems are a nightmare. Someone I 'support' had a problem recently where even after an uninstall it interfered with network connections to a new wireless router and killed all links to the router once wired via ethernet.

Turned out the crappy driver had not uninstalled correctly and left a device active in Device Manager. Once it was manually cleaned up, and I had to fix this via the registry, everything resumed as normal.
