Hello again :)

Recently my pc has been crashing in games, no errors, no freezing, the game just closes, my pc is overclocked but i have tested it multiple times and it is orthos 24 hour stable,

i have re-installed all drivers too and this doesnt change anything :(

it happens when running stalker and WoW, there isnt a set time where it will do it, it just happens randomly

Anyone any idea what could be causing this?

Anyone shed some light on this, i have been trying out a few different games and it does the same thing on ghost recon advanced warfighter, and quake 4.

Please help its driving me insane

What are temps like on your GPU?

I also thank you for waiting a decent amount of time before bumping your thread, a lot of people expect answers straight away!

It annoys me when people bump threads every 5 minutes so i wouldnt do it myself :)

My gpu is at 62 at the moment, i dont know if this is too hot but i do know that these crashes were happening on my 7800gtx for a few days before i got my 8800, it has only happened since the upgrade of my mobo, ram and cpu so i guess its one of these, or a software fault :(

*edit* and thanks for the reply zefan, any attempt to fix it is a good start for me :)

I didnt try memtest, i know that memtest and prime 95 were popular a while back here, does that still stand? i presumed orthos tested it all on blend

Memtest is the best for RAM really.

Apart from dodgy RAM all I can think is that it may simply be orthos stable but not game stable. Does the problem still occur if you drop the clocks down a bit?

i dropped the cpu to 3.08 from 3.15 and the ram from 900 to 875, too keep the 1:1 ratio i have, i will try to drop a bit more now, didnt want to go below 3ghz really though :p

Well i dropped everything back down to stock and it seems to be great,

Think i will just leave it at stock for now, although i can see it creeping up again in the next few weeks :p

Can anyone recommend a good HSF? 3.2ghz on stock was a bit optimistic of me really :)

Thanks for your advice zefan, appreciated

Ok, sorry to be bringing this back up but the same problem is still there, i thought it went away but then it started happening again the next day,

now at the moment i am back at stock, so i know it wasnt overclocking killing the games, i have re-installed all drivers (mobo, gfx, sound) and also tried fail safe settings in bios, also it is stable overnight with memtest and prime 95 :(

None of this has worked. do you think its worth a fresh windows install? i would like to avoid this if i can but if its the only option then i guess i will have to,

Thanks again

yeah i did mate :(

I'm seriously stuck for ideas on this on,

i ran a chkdsk /f and it did find problems and fixed them,

i havnt tested yet but do you think this could have caused the problems?
