Crashing in games

Just build a x2 4400+ (2.3) system for my mat with a 6800gt graphics card and 2gb ddr2 memory. I havent installed the dual core patches cos xp seems to be working fine. anyway he's played flatout 2 and f1 2002 so far, but within about a hour they crash. he's run prime95 for about a hr, and no cores failed, so that leave my thinking its the graphics card is over heating. What do you think guys? nothing is overclocked.

1hr of prime does not prove that its stable, you need to prime for at least 8 -12hrs. what kind of load temps is he getting on his 6800GT?

If nothing is overclocked then it's probably drivers. 6800GTs aren't renowned for overheating but you could repeatedly run a game demo or game benchmark and see if you can monitor the temperatures to check.

Simple test for overheating is running with the side cover off. If it runs with it off then your cooling is at fault.
Prime as said earlier needs running all night for stability tests.
