Hey guys

So ive been running OSX off a different hard drive for 4 months and recently needed to burn a disc in windows.

My windows install worked fine but today when i went to load it i get a system restart as soon as i see the colours swirl at launch...

Any ideas how i can fix this without reformatting? or atleast save my data on that drive?

BIOS hasnt changed and its worked fine up until now with no changes I can think of...

Any advice?

1 thing I have seen cause this is changing the hard drive settings from ahci to ide or vice versa, but as you say no bios changes I'm not sure

Windows 7 has a decent boot fix function if you stick the cd back in

I also had same thoughts as above about IDE/AHCI

You probably switched it when you first installed OSX.

Try pressing F8 before the swirl comes up, then select "Last known good config"

Hye guys,

Its set as AHCI in BIOS as it always was due to me using SSD hard drives. When i press F8 i just get a list of boot devices? I was going for safe mode but cant find it...

Hmm, maybe you're pressing F8 too early. Let the motherboard finish the POST screen then start pressing F8.

ah ok, im pressing it from boot so catch the boot devices, it normally boots off my osx drive so i need to F8 to load windows and once i press enter it instantly loads the windows screen and resets so not much time for F8 any other time!
