Does Crashpan free version support versioning? I can see on their website that the free and paid service is different that paid service supports unlimited versioning.

Question is does the free one support some kind of versioning? I mean I probably need about 4-5 versions at max.

cheers

To my knowledge (which might be out of date) Crashplan only charges you to back up to their cloud. Local backups and backups to other PCs (which could be owned by you or even a friend) are free. It's the same software, just with or without cloud backup enabled.

The Crashplan software backs up at defined intervals (e.g. every 10minutes/hour/day) and retains data longer term at separately defined intervals. For example I might want to backup my PC every hour and retain those hourly backups for 1 month, then for backups older than 1 month I'd like those hourly snapshots reduced to daily snapshots to save space.
