Craziest voltage opteron

Whats the highest voltage you guys have had your 1 series opterons up to? I have got my 144 at 1.8v priming at 2.9 just wondered if anyone has managed to kill one here yet. I may well make it my mission

Is 1.8v really necessary? Is it that beneficial? Mine is at 1.65v, I think some guy on XS ran his 148 for 24hours on 2.05v

A couple have died at 1.6... i wish you luck with that.

1.7V here whilst chasing 3ghz, using 1.5V 24/7 as the boost running at 1.65V gives me is about 200mhz and not worth the hassle.

Apparently, only two tho i believe so thats not normal behaviour. I think thats the lowest they have been known to die at. Unfortunately i can't find the link, but i think it was over at xs...

Either way i think thats the point at which death becomes a posibility.

Seems such a waste to kill a good cpu with 1.8v when it could fold for the team for years at a slightly lesser speed. Of course it may not die, but its not worth the risk for a few extra mhz imo.

1.8v does sound excessive; have heard the same that some have died at 1.6v. Such a variety of chips - some only requiring stock volts for 3.0ghz whereas others requiring another power station to be built.

had mine over 1.6v trying to get 3.25ghz stable, didnt worktho, and temp went up past 45'c load.

I now run 3.1ghz @ 1.5v 24/7, load temps never above 38'c

Run 1.7v on my CABYE 0540 for mths with no problems.
