Crazy MB temp readings from HWMonitor and Open Hardware Monitor

Hi,

I recently bought a ASUS H81M-K. Everything is running fine, except I am getting some very strange temp readings.

My GPU and CPU are both reporting idle temps of about 25c - 30c.

However, in HWMonitor for the MB it lists:

SYSTIN 123c
TZ01 30c
CPUTIN 27c
TMPIN3 29c

Speccy reports MB as the same as SYSTIN, so 123c.

In Open Hardware Monitor, for the MB it lists:

Cpu Core: 29c
Temp 1: 27c
Temp 2: 123c
Temp 3: 44c
Temp 4: 115c
Temp 5: 115c
Temp 4: 45c

Anyone know what's going on?

I'm assuming I'm looking at faulty readings, as otherwise the MB would be melting. Also, the temps are at this level immediately upon turning the machine on, when even the GPU and CPU are barely out of the teens.

I don't even understand the lower temps of around 45, because surely the hottest parts will be near the CPU / GPU, and these are idling at about 25?!

I've got one fan drawing in cold air and another blowing out hot air. I've also got separate fans on the gpu and CPU.

Surely this must be a false reading as:

A) The MB can't be hotter than its hottest component, which is surely the Gpu or CPU?

B) my computer boots in less than ten seconds due to a SSD. However, these extreme temps occur instantly. Surely physically not possible?

C) putting my hand in the case I can feel nothing beyond warm.

D) feeling the outside of the case where the MB is mounted is not hot, just warm after a few hours.

What do the temps look like in the BIOS?

I would guess the software is reading something wrong.

Install ASUS Probe and see what that reports?

HW monitor is glitchy on a lot of motherboards and reports crazy temps sometimes.

It would register my old oc'ed fx6300 socket temp at -155c :P

I'll check the Bios, although I have checked multiple heat programs and they are all reporting mad temp. But again, logic tells me that 125c is simply not possible on a MB if the CPU and GPU are running cool.

If it was really 125c you would prob smell that ::D
