Hey
Firstly thanks to everyone who helped out with my PC build, it's lovely!

I connected a Lap mic (TRRS into TRS adapter plugged in to the MB Mic jack) and it's got some crazy hiss! Please have a listen and let me know what I can do about it! I recorded that with OBS and cant find any noise cancelling!

Thanks you all!
Jas

Your levels are also way too low. I've been watching videos on 18% in Windows and had to turn your video up to 100% for the same volume.

What mic is it specifically? Is it a condenser mic? Have you got a phantom power pack if so?

You could likely resolve the volume issue by turning AGC (automatic gain control) on in Windows settings. (Sound > Input > Device Properties > Additional device properties > Custom) but that won't resolve the hiss issue.

I have a condenser mic which has background hiss as bad as, or possibly worse than, yours, and I have to remove the hiss in post. (Audacity is good for doing that)

Instantly fixed the hiss with audacity and the levels (had to bump it up 20db) Thanks so much!
