I have a Samsung SM226BW 22" monitor, I bought it in Dec. '07 so it's almost 3 years old now. About 2 or 3 weeks ago I started noticing a really annoying high pitched buzzing coming from it when it's gone into standby or I've turned it off with the power button.

Recently I've determined that it seems to only happens when the computer is on standby too which is really crazy. For example I just turned the monitor off with the button at the front and left it for half an hour, when I came back the computer was on standby and the monitor was buzzing. I moved the mouse to wake up the computer and the buzzing stopped even though the monitor was still off.

The only way to make sure it doesn't buzz is to pull out the power cord from the back of the monitor which is really annoying. I've heard of people having the problem when the monitor was turned on too, I just count myself lucky that mine doesn't do that! Does anyone know a way of fixing buzzing monitors?

I suggest you get into contact with samsung ASAP and inform them of the problem. The monitor should still be covered by their 3 year pick up & swap warranty, so if it has developed a fault then they are required to replace it. However, if it goes over this period then you will either have to pay for a repair or do it yourself.

Thanks andi I just checked their website and it seems to say colour monitors are 3 years warranty so I'll get in touch with them.
