CRC errors and corrupt downloads

Hi guys, been kicking myself the last few days trying to solve this very annoying problem. :(

Everything I download seems to have a 50%ish chance of being corrupt.

I first noticed it about a week ago while using a download program called JDownloader, seen here:

I thought it was a bug with their program but after trying to download some of the links again through firefox and still getting corrupt ones I became worried. So I narrowed it down to being either Rapidshare or RAR files at fault. But yesterday I downloaded an EXE through firefox and got this message:

So far I've tried a few things to sort this out:

- Full format and changing the drive Windows 7 was installed on (From the 1tb drive to the 500gb one). Both receive this error.
- Various RAM and HDD checks (Need to redo these but not sure what tools to use)
- Reconnecting physical HDD's inside case.
- Turning all firewalls and virus scanners off.

So I just need help diagnosing this and figuring out what needs replacing/fixing. Thanks guys. Specs below.

CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 B3 (2.4GHz 1066MHz) Socket 775 L2 @ 3.0ghz
PSU - Seasonic M12 700W Modular PSU
OS - Windows 7 Premium Home 64bit
 
Yeah I have a laptop (need to do more download tests on that but from the small test I did I didn't get a single error).

Anyway, I ran the test and it passed with no errors, was hoping it would be the RAM so I could just replace it. Doh.

Just thought i'd try this, a month back I overclocked my CPU and also enabled a thing called Memory Remap which allowed my computer to see all 4gb of my RAM. Just gonna try a quick test with everything in my BIOS set to default.

How long did it take to rectify itself for you Sean?

EDIT: Nope this didn't work at all. Anyone got any other ideas? :(

Ah right, didn't know that, will run a full one tonight, thanks.

I did a full format, formatted both HDD's and used Externals to back up the data (no installed programs) I downloaded everything else like Firefox from scratch. I booted from the Windows 7 DVD and reinstalled using that. I realise that's not a full format but this thing is affecting both HDD's, could it really be that?

I've already ran check disk from boot using right click > properties > schedule boot scan. No errors.

My router has been fine, no disconnect issues that I can think of. I unfortunately cannot test it without my router as it doesn't work when I plug it directly in straight from my modem.

I did a laptop test which had no CRC errors but that was only with 5 or so files, I could have been lucky. I will try with a larger set of downloads now.

Yeah I did try that when I thought JDownloader was the problem. But it's not, this happens on JD, IDM even Firefox. It's not a software issue I don't think.
 
Oh crap, just run a download on my laptop and I'm also getting CRC errors on there. So what do we think then? Network issue? New router time??

This is weird though because now they're ALL getting CRC errors on the laptop. WTF.

Also, shortly after this picture was taken the next batch got 'CONNECTION LOST' errors and crapped out. Shiiiiiiiii.
 
@Anon-e-mouse This just started happening though, I hadn't touched or changed anything. I'll have a look though. Thanks.

@dustofnations Well the laptop has a different network card in it and it happened on that, the only possibilities left are router or connection.

@Ricardox1 Yeah that's what I thought. Will get a new router at some point soon, if that doesn't help then it'll be the connection.
 
Yeah well my friend also has this problem on his router but it's not as serious for him, he's positive it's his router however. I wanted to be sure. I will be buying a new one tomorrow.

Any suggestions for a decent one around £30-40 mateys?
 
How about 'Netgear DG834UK ADSL Router'. Could stretch to that. Any good?

(I'm on Virgin Media 20mb cable, is this one just ADSL?)

It needs to have wireless by the way.
 
It's about 20 feet of cable though, would be a pain in the arse to replace for nothing, would be easier to do it with a new router so i'll get that first. But thanks for the wise words.
