crc errors on downloads - overclocking issue?

New machine, everything seems fine, but two large compressed downloads fail to run with crc or 'unspecified error' on the main dat files when uncompressing.
Quick scout round suggested it could be a NIC issue?
Is it just faulty - if it is that - or could the overclocking I have done be causing it?
Installing from CD etc is fine and other files open and save without issue so it does point to a NIC or internet issue.

Well if you have consistent problems like this from a variety of servers it may be a memory or HDD issue and overclocking can cause the former. Otherwise... nature of the internet.

Check your ram with memtest. I had this problem with the good old ballistix memy quite often, many rmas!

crc errors on unpacking files on my machine turned out to be a RAM stick dieing. Check that first.

Thanks all.
I will get memtest and give it a go over the weekend and see what happens.
I have also downloaded the files on another PC and will copy them over via CD and see if I still get the same error then.
