At low speeds, or stationary when putting weight on both sides... one side seems slightly louder than the other, but definitely both sides.

It SEEMS to be coming from the lower bushing things when I stick my ear next to it - definitely lower down than further up the suspension, just behind the wheel - it's a mazda 6. Any idea what it would cost to replace them, if it is them? Would it be likely to be anything else? Doesn't seem to be a broken spring or anything that I can see. More noticeable last night when it was warm than this morning when it was a bit colder.

Does it need fixing ASAP or is it just an annoyance? No effect on handling - doesn't change with steering.

I'd check the ball joints first.

Tend to get more noisy when it's warmer / car has been run for a bit as things expand and noise can completely disappear in the wet.

Probably not an emergency repair if they've just become noisy but will only get worse with wear. It's a vital part of your suspension so if it does turn out to be the BJ's, I'd personally get them done ASAP and not scrimp on cheap parts as they will likely go again soon.
