Well i've decided that over the next few months, Golfy will be stripped of her interior and have all fastners and fittings replaced with shiny new ones so that the interior once again feels nice a solid and doesn't rattle. While I'm at it I will be soldering in all of my speakers properly and perhaps adding in a set of 6x9's to complete the lacking midrange offered by my infinitys. While every thing is out, I might even throw in the recaro interior from the GTI - just coz I can ;)

While I'm at making the car feel solid again, I need to get the suspension bushes replaced and the two front ones have de-bonded, so I'm told.
Would this cause the creaking/squeaking sound I hear when I'm going over speed bumps and braking to a stop from low speed? Or is it my shocks / dampers that are on their way out?
The ride hasn't changed, it's no more bouncy than before so I doubt it's my dampers. And I don't drive like a moron so there's no reason for the shocks to be on their way out either.

So while i've got the suspension off, should I bite the bullet and replace the whole lot with some nice Koni coilovers that Awesome GTI sell for £300 odd quid?

Decisions, decisions.

Fox is thinking in the same way as me. Why do all that work to a 1.6 Golf? Surely get a better car with the money?

Step 1: Okay....
Step 2: Hmmm...they'll rape me on insurance....
Step 3: I am happy with my car atm, I have my bike for excitement and I just want my car to be "nice" for a few more years until I can afford insurance on a 'better' car.

To keep this thread on track, I'll just nod and acknowledge.

However if you want to discuss it with me on MSN, email is in trust.

my dash creaks. i have the radio on a bit louder. problem solved. effort minimal.

My dash doesn't creak - it's the boot lining because of my exhaust (which is going soon) and the doors are missing some clips after I fitted my speakers.

Its nice and shiny at least.

One of my dampers is fudged, when i go over the little short speedbumps such as you get in a multistory car park, you can hear it squeek, its pretty obvious and you can tell which corner its coming from.

I wouldnt bother putting Konis on, £300 you wont see return in an improved ride, just get a new shock or repair your current one and if any bushes are knackered get some new rubber ones. :)
