Create a tweaked bootable XP disk

Hi guys,

Had a search through here but cannot find exactly what i am looking for. I want something that I can tweak a build of xp with all my installed apps and copy this onto a dvd to use it as a boot disk for reformatting my machines. It would work on the same way that firms would reimage a large amount of machines with a tailor made build.

For instance I would want a build of xp with all the latest service packs + updates. Then other additions like .net framework etc.

Are there any handy tools which allow me to slim down xp installs but always run install scripts for all the apps I want?

Or is it better to install xp manually, install everything I want and then take a snapshot of the current state which can be bootable?

Any recommendations on apps to do this?

Ah I came across that ages ago but couldn't find the site. Thanks. WIll have a look at that.

Edit: seems you can't add 3rd party apps to this.

Well do you want an image or a slipstreamed XP install from scratch? Sounds like an image, in which case Acronis True Image or Ghost.

Id like a fresh install of xp but with the option to preinstall a series of apps. If this isn't possible then just taking an image would be a good solution but I'm guessing this would be too large for a DVD? Can you make bootable DVDs once the OS and all the apps are installed?

I checked out the acronis software and i see their bootable images but mine was around 20Gb with all the files I currently have on disk.

I'd rather use something like nlite to provide a clean install but then run some install scripts to install maybe 15 small utility apps. There wouldn't be a large file size involved.

There probably isn't any easy way of doing it.
