Okay so I'm a bit confused and was hoping to get some help.
To start off.. I know quite a bit about networking although never set up a router like this or in deapth.

Anyway...

I have two routers:

  • 02 Wireless box - Thompson speedtouch (TG585v7)
  • Linksys Router/Acesspoint running DD-WRT firmware

Now I have 2 PS3s and a XBOX I wish to DMZ for better conectivity, I understand the only way to have them all in a DMZ is to have a seperate 'LAN' for them.

My problem is, what is the best way of doing this with my equipment?

The o2 box is very poor, even with when logged on with the superuser account. It seems that with that I can only DMZ one device, but this device has to have a dynamic IP so that it can be picked up. The o2 router does DMZ by mac address not IP :S

I have two PCs and two laptops connected to the o2 box, wired and wireless, therefore would like to keep this one secure.

Is there any way I can get around this, or can someone offer some advice to get me started?

Many thanks. Matt:confused:

Can you not just use the O2 router?

Are you using the Linksys as a switch so you can get all 6 devices wired into the network?

Do you have an option to forward ports. I have a 360 and PS3 in the house and have the ports forwarded so the firewall does not interfere.

o2 router doesnt forward ports very well... or do anything for that matter

Currently, the o2 box has:

2 PCs wired
2 Laptops via wireless.

Then the linksys is acting as a access point (wired into the o2 box)
for:
2 PS3s
1 360

I want the linksys to basically bypass the security/firewall on the 02 router so that the game consoles can be used unrestricted. I think that makes sense

Switch your o2 router to "modem mode" or "passthrough mode" and basically use it as a modem, connect it to the WAN port on your linksys and from then on, the linksys will deal with NAT/etc and you won't be crippled by the awful Speedtouch rubbish.

You'll be limited to only using the one port on the o2 router though - so if you've only got 4 LAN ports on your linksys you're going to need an additional switch.

You may be able to DMZ the IP that the O2 router gives the Linksys seeing as though its been used as an access point.

That could solve my problem, although I have no clue how to do it on my 02 router...

It wont let me DMZ IPs it uses MAC address and assigns them a name.

I get the following :

Only devices with a dynamic IP appear in that drop down box, the linksys not being one of them as it will have a static IP...
