Creating a patio - drainage options

Hi all, in the process of clearing out my garden to make way for a patio and the laying of some artificial turf at the back.

I'm just considering what my drainage options are for the work.

The patio will be built up to the back of my house and go around the side alley to the side gate (so roughly half way). Now I understand that I can create a slight slope in the side alley so that water runs away from the house but as I want to put a fake grass area at the end of the patio was struggling with what the best drainage option will be for at the back of the house.

Should I have a channel drain/french drain directly next to the house running along the back so that water runs back off the patio towards the house, into the french/channel drain and runs off into the main drain or do I slope the patio away from the house and put a french/drain channel at the end of the patio where the patio and artificial turf meet and run the water off that way?

OOOORRRR am i just over thinking everything and I dont need to bother with any of this?

My initial thought is that you are overthinking it but it depends on the size of the patio. Most artificial grass is porous but there will be a limit to how much water the ground can take.

If you are concerned about ponding I would just dig a trench where the patio ends and form a soakaway by backfilling it with stone/rubble then laying your artificial grass over the top.

Slope everything away from the house, I wouldn't slope anything towards the house regardless of drainage.

Artificial turf is very porous so it'll just run straight through it.

I didn't think about this when we extended our patio (and re-layed the existing) and now the patch of(real) grass directly in front of the patio is dead from excess water.
So this summer looks like I will be digging up the end of the patio and adding a slot drain, I just haven't worked out exactly where I am going to drain the water to though.
I'll probably just run a pipe with holes drilled in the bottom to distribute the water a bit more down a longer length of the grass, which will mean digging up the grass as well as the patio.

Have you tried simply aerating the lawn periodically and applying lawn sand?

Just wanted to make sure I was thinking about all possibilities.

Think i'll go with sloping everything away and maybe running a small french drain where the patio meets the artificial grass as I imagine both will slope down to that point ever so slightly.
