Creating a review site

I wish to create a review site, not for computer stuff or anythign like that - its actually food related.

Is there any software aimed at this sort of site, almost along the lines of ochostreview where users will post the reviews, it needs the facility to add things to be reviewed either by user or by admin and then search the reviews/things by varying factors.

Any ideas?

The simple approach would be to use Wordpress. It allows new posts to be put into a moderation queue, search, article tagging and comments. Plus you can add plug-ins easily and there's a whole host of open source templates.

It's also one of the simplest to setup, good documentation and a lot of hosts will have a one-click installer for it already.

But would it allow hundreds of different reviews to review hundreds of different products, add products and search/sort them for display?

I think there are themes for Wordpress that are specifically for review sites. Definitely worth a look for a quick and easy option.

Suppose it depends how you set it up. You could have a new article for each product, then ask people to post comments for the reviews.

All of that will be easily search-able, not sure how you would sort it though. That will depend on how you categorise each product and how you set-up the sorting page.
