I had to stop using the wired Belkin network router and cards I had as there were constant gaps of a 1-10 seconds between data. Everything works perfectly on wired setup.

The cable modem (which is about 5 years old but working perfectly) has the function to connect by USB or ethernet conenctors which is what I use. In order to setup a network for two riggs to share the internet am I just gonna have to buy a wired router, connect it to the modem and run a couple of cables to the two PCs? Or is the hardware setup a bit more complex than that?

I'm sure they had a good reputation when I bought one about 3 years back but it's just horrific. To run it at all, I had to download (after about 20 cut off attempts) a small download manager, so that I could stay connected long enough to update the drivers. It was then better but enough is enough in the end.

So overall its gonna cost me in the region of £40 and pulling up some floor boards perhaps to hide the cable next to the obscene length of cable Virgin left me.
