creating a website

Hi,

At which point are you satisfied with your website?

For example:

a) when the colour scheme is good
b) when everything is working fine

I am just wondering as I am in the process of creating a website for a friend and this is really tricky because everyone who I get to look at the first page (i know slow start) makes different comments lol

So I was wondering if there are any guidelines, tips when you can say "yes thats it"

Or does that not exist lol

Well there's 2 routes that I usually choose between (or its chosen for me) depending on the requirements in the functional spec.

1) Design. A good solid composition in Photoshop, touch ups as it's seperated into individual design elements. Then all build up and maxed into XHTML/CSS.

2) Functionality. A good solid framework and accessible layout. A simple wireframe in Photoshop then a layout and backend built into the simple template. Design elements then moulded into this.

However, you can obviously mingle both of those directions.

yes but at which point do you think "thats it" designing wise and layout wise???

do you ever feel even on completion that you can do more? or do you get so sick looking at it you think thats enough for this site now? if you catch my drift

If I'm getting paid for it, I usually have to finish it when the money runs out.

On personal projects - a Web site is never really finished. I am always thinking about things to change. The only real time that I put the tools down and decide that its good enough is when it it functional with a satisfying design.

Of course you will get itches but depending on your deadline et cetera, you wont be able to satisfy them all.

And just to point out I wouldn't be happy to put down a Web design if everything isn't working fine.

Atm I keep changing my mind about 1st page its ludcrious....lol......

I think its because after asking friends and family they all have stated fair and open constructive crictism...However I will go with what my mate wants and that will be final..
