With the windows download, or repair, tool, do you need the full windows iso or is there another way, surely there is a tool suite iso you cancload to usb to will allow you to repair windows?

I see what your saying, so you just d/l iso from microsoft?

Yes. Using the Media Creation Tool that you download from MS. I recommend using it to download an .iso and from that create whatever Bootable media you want.

Remember the Recovery Tools are included in the media. If you ever need to 'Recover' your OS you can do it in several ways. From the Desktop, (assuming you can still use it at this point), by simply running your installation media and starting the Recovery tools, or by using the Recovery Options when starting your PC and using the appropriate key (F8 or whatever) at the right time, or by Booting directly from your media and using the Recovery Tools from there.

Windows seems to put a Recovery partition on your drive by default now so you can use the F8 (whatever) method without any media at all. Check your Disk Management to see if you already have it.

If you ever use the inbuilt Windows Disk Image, it will ask you when completed if you want to create a Recovery Disk. Assuming you already have a Recovery partition and Installation media, i would say this is somewhat redundant! :)
