Having bought a new computer I now have 2 both of which i need to be networked toogether so I can use both for rendering 3d scenes. How do you go about it, do you connect one computer to another using an ethernet cable or do you connect both to the router?

Thanks

I suppose the second one doesn't have to but would be nice if it did. That mean connect to the router I presume?

Yeah theres no problem on the rendering front as I've set up distributed rendering on vray a few times, it's just that when I was employed the networks were already all set up so that's the part I don't know.

Thanks guys

Just them all on the same network so they can share files and then an ip address for each computer but in my case that's only one extra computer.

At the moment just trying to work with what #I have but worth bearing in mind.

Not having a great deal of joy.

I have them both seeing each other in the sense that both are displayed in the network, and both are in a homegroup. The problem is that its very choosy in what it allows you to see in the other computer, which just seems to be:

Documents
Music
Pictues
Video

What I was after was beeing ble to see all the hdd's in the other computer and move files for example. Am i doing this the wrong way?
