I've created some home video files and some photos that want to share with a few members of the family and I thought the best and most reliable way would be use torrent as I've known network issues screw up a 1.5gb file during transfer; whereas a torrent would just check the hash and redo that bit.

I've had a look a uTorrent but When it comes to putting in the tracker details I am a bit stumped as what to put in as I don't really want people in the rest of the web to have access to this file(s).

Does anyone have any suggestions what I can put in there so that the torrent file points to me? or anyother suggestions..... :) Thx

OK Thanks, I'll have a go tonight.

Just scan reading it - it seems to imply that vuze has to be running all the time to act as the tracker, or is the tracker a separate file created by vuze which can then be closed down after creation.

if your running your own tracker then yea it needs to be running all the time. or you could upload it to a public tracker and let that stay up all the time, but you must remember you will need to seed all the time anyway. so if your clients up you might as well be the tracker.

Vuze needs to be open at all times for the tracker to work.

Personally I'd put the files into a RAR or ZIP archive and set it to split the archive into 50MB or 100MB parts. Less effort than making a torrent.

or you could just burn the files to a bunch of DVD or even flash drives and then just mail them to your relatives.
