Creating zip's to use in Windows

I tried to open a zip file that I created on my MBP on a windows machine and 'computer said no'.
Do i need to use a third party app to create a zip file that can be used on windows or is there a setting somewhere I need to change to make them play nice??

Odd. What exactly did computer say when it said no?

Not on a Mac right now, but will have a look tonight?

Odd, I've created zip files under Snow Leopard with the built in functionality, no settings changed, and they've opened fine on Windows :confused:

Ditto here. Even emailed ZIPs to Window's users who've never moaned they couldn't open them.
