This download is an application for Creative Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ and Sound Blaster Audigy® series of audio devices. It restores 3D audio and EAX® effects for certain DirectSound®3D games in Microsoft® Windows Vista®. For more details, read the rest of this web release note.

Fixes:

* Enables the DirectSound3D game audio to be processed by your Sound Blaster X-Fi to deliver EAX effects, 3D audio spatialization, sample rate conversion and hardware audio mixing. Without this, most DirectSound3D games will be reduced to stereo output without any EAX effects.
* Resolves issues with some games if Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is installed.

Requirements:

* Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit or Windows Vista 32-bit
* Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi or Sound Blaster Audigy audio device listed above

Notes:

* Do not install this application if you do not play DirectSound3D games in Windows Vista.

* To install the application
1. Download the ALMY_PCVTAPP_LB_1_10_01.exe file onto your local hard disk.
2. Close all other Windows applications.
3. Double-click the downloaded file.
4. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Do you still have to input settings for each game? I'm far too lazy for that.

only for games that aint in the database i rarely use it apart from when i insatall a new game

Excuse my ignorance, but I start it up and I get "no games detected" in the main screen and have the option to add games manually.

I know I have some games installed that use ALchemy, like HL2 etc, do I have to do anything to get it working?

I'm not sure HL2 needs it, it doesn't use EAX (that I'm aware of?)

It says that it supports the Audigy in the first post... is this not correct?

I thought that Creative wanted $$$ for the Audigy version.

lists a lot of settings for games what aint included i know they wont add source/steam games to it due to the software wont detect your accountname directory

Alchemy isn't really a fix for EAX. It's a directsound wrapper. EAX works anyway for games that don't use directsound.

They need to get that Steam issue sorted. It's a pain.
