Hey lads,
I have a Creative Gigaworks S750 which I have connected to my PC via a Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card. The sound is incredible and ideally I would like to be able to use these speakers for a Xbox 360 too. I've noticed that the 360 can output 5.1 digital sound via a cable. Unfortunately Creative made a bad move by not including an optical input on the Gigaworks. However, there is a way around it. You can buy a Creative DDTS-100 which seems to do the job, but it does cost around £100 delivered.
I have two questions. Firstly, will this decoder allow the PC and Xbox 360 to output 7.1 sound through my S750 without having to switch around anything every time I wish to use the other device? And secondly, is there an alternative decoder I could use? £100 is a bit steep for just allowing connectivity and it's an old model too! But I have thusfar been unable to find a suitable alternative.
