I have a Creative Inspire T7900 that i use for a PC is it possible to use it as just a woofer with a denon m38 dab system, or do i have to buy a seperate woofer.

The Denon manual mentions a powered woofer, what connectors would i need if i have to buy a woofer, and can anyone recommend one to buy, many thanks for reading, cheers.

It might be possible to get it to work, by connecting the cable coming from the subwoofer to the sub out on the M38. You'd need to use some adaptor cables though.

Those cheap 2.1/5.1/7.1 PC speakers have horrible subwoofers though, so you'd be better off not bothering than using the T7900 subwoofer. Been many years since I had a Creative Inspire 5.1 speaker set. They serve a purpose for gaming use, but for music, the sound was awful.

Even a budget subwoofer would be a notable improvement.

There are some for about £100, from Yamaha and Pioneer, but they are far more suited to home cinema duties than music. If you can stretch to the extra, a Wharfedale SW150 for about £160 from Audiovisualonline, is best choice for under £200. If more than £200 is not a problem, then BK Gemini II would be better still.

Depends on what you're looking to spend, but anything close to £100 is really scraping the bottom of barrel really. There is also used. I'm sure there are some good bargains to be had, if you don't mind buying used.

Good post from @Marsman there.

All so far who have said it's not a good sub to go with a mucis system are correct.

Yes, with a bit of faffing around it can be made to connect to the Denon, but the sub lacks the rear panel controls for volume, phase and crossover that are required to blend a sub with the Denon's speakers. This is all before we've even discussed whether it'll sound any good.

If you want to try it for yourself then what you'll need is a stereo RCA to 3.5mm jack cable. The sub connection will be shared with the centre speaker. One of the RCA plugs will give you sound, the other won't. Simple as that.

When you've got the sub connected, you may find the sound too loud or too quiet compared with the.main speakers. That's why a sub needs a volume control.

I will leave it on the PC what i was thinking off is a

Denon AVR-X2400H AV Receiver
Q Acoustics 3050.
A woofer mabye a Yamaha NSSW050 Powered Subwoofer with 8 Driver from Amazon i can return if i dont like it and mabye try a Wharfedale Diamond SW150 Subwoofer.

I have a 4K TV so perhaps i can add speakers at a later date, right now just wanting a reasonable sound without silly prices.

We have one Hi Fi shop in Perth, they had some nice speakers there if you have a spare 6000 pounds
clearly a shop for the rich, any thing that sounds better than the Denon M38 Dab with mission speakers will be fine..thats what i have now.
