Im going to buy some speakers but i am considering which is better.

its between.

Creative GigaWorks ProGamer G500 310W RMS THX 5.1 Speakers

and

Logitech Z-5400 5.1 THX 310W RMS Home Cinema Speaker System

i wont be able to use X-Fi as my watercooling pump is bolted to the bottom of the case and would require me to re tube my system.i will get it eventually but not at this moment, im hoping my Onboard Audio will be able to handle it.

their is only a £10 differance so i can afford both.

and is THX worth it?

Sound is such a subjective thing, though I'm tempted to say that they'd probably sound the same.

What do you use your PC for? I mean just by the titles alone I could guess that the speakers are built differently.

Heavy gaming and i watch a lot of movies that boast 5.1 surround sound. main reason is for movies but i really like the idea of having nice sound in games as well. i also listen to a lot of music so its a mixed barrel really.

i will have a look inside my case in a bit to see if the bottom pci slot is accessable, but would you recommend X-Fi?

i can only really afford £200 including the speakers/sound card

my personal referance is for creative :D no perticular reason, just always used them and they make me happy :D

Very tempted by the logitech set myself - but decided in end that as I wasn't bothered by losing :-
THX certification
310 RMS (what I got is more than sufficent to deafen me)
Differing connections ( I was looking for a set of PC speakers not a home cinema set)
Very large sub - according to reviews I've read(wanted such to easily fit under desk)

Bought Logitech G51 set - 155RMS. - Have a look at Custom PC for Feb who reviewed 'em
Allegedly good for gaming but not so good for music/movies BUT I have no complaints.
Would def. go for x-fi sound card - may not be for purists but I do not believe such cannot be beaten for covering all the bases well.
Such combo would leave some change out of £200

This is the problem.

Would a full size X-Fi card fit?

i need to know the dimensions really.

If you are doing a lot of gaming and watching films, an amp and speakers will be 2nd best (fine, if you mostly listen to a lot of music)....I would personally go for the Logitech Z-5400s...I have had a set of the Z680s for the last 4 years, and they are excellent for gaming & movies...:)

Stereo integrated amp and stereo speakers. Also if you can find one with a headphone amp on the front it'll be easier when you use headphones.

Look at Rotel, NAD as starter area. Cyrus gear is over your budget.

Yup they're smaller than its bigger brothers.

They're pretty good, more than enough for most people. They're not quite as hi-fidelity as the more expensive versions but not so much that you'd really notice I wouldn't have thought. They do all the EAX effects if you're a gamer.

Those 4 connections, if i had a 2.1 sort of set up, the speakers would connect to the sub woofer and then the sub woofer to the card?

i think i may have to purchase it if i figure it out, but does it have the crystaliser to eenhance mp3's?

You connect the line out to your sub, or one of the two front speakers and then the they all link to the each other via the sub.

Cheers dude.

im going for this

and hoping its the 1/2 size pcb version.

and i will have to get some small speakers, i have considered getting some decent speakers and im afraid i dont have anywhere to put them as my room is tiny. their are going to be wall mounted.

Logitech z 5400 will be my best bet.
