Okay, so this is my first 'proper' post on here (I posted in the 'introductions' section to say 'hello').

I'm considering getting this external soundcard that has a wireless card that connects to matching gaming headphones:

I'll be using them on the PS3 and 360 and hopefully with Sky and WDTV Live Hub. I won't be using them that much with a PC. I have 360 and PS3 in my lounge and a PS3 in my bedroom. This device will allow me to use it in both locations as it's USB powered.

I just need some advice regarding a set-up that requires minimal fuss when using different devices.

I want to utilise the 'optical-in' input on the Creative card from each of my devices. My PS3, 360 and WDTV connect to my amp via HDMI so all have spare optical outputs. My Sky box connects to my amp via optical, so, I'm thinking I can use an optical splitter on that to create another optical out connection from Sky. Then, I'll have four optical connections that I want to go to the Creative card.

I'm looking at getting one of these and using it just for optical switching (there's a new one on eBay for £15):

http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/741480/Joytech-XBox-360-Control-Center/Product.html?searchtype=allproducts&searchsource=0&searchstring=joytech%20xbox%20hub&urlrefer=search&source=9593&_$ja=tsid:11853|prd:78888&awc=1418_1323197855_431468b46d40a2077f14fcbffa07d936

So then I'll have a single optical output from that which I can plug into the Creative headphone card and switch between inputs on the Joytech box. Then I just have to connect the Creative card via USB to power it.

I'm wondering if this set-up will work okay?

I'm also wondering if it will work okay with the feeds from the Sky and WDTV boxes? The card itself has selectors for 360, PS3 and PC...but it also has a standard 'line-in' jack. As this device has only just been released there is very little information about it from other users. On Amazon.com there are only a few comments but one guy says he has connected the device to his amps headphone output.

Anyway, I hope someone may be able to help with this?

Many thanks in advance;)

It depends if it only accepts Dolby Digital input. I suppose the reason for selecting the input, is probably because each selection allows a different setup.

Hey, thanks for replying once more.

Yes, it accepts DD input. I believe that the different selectors are due to the way the in-game chat works...as this is different for each. As Sky and WDTV don't have such a feature it leaves me guessing as to how the device would cope with them?

If anyone is interested, this set-up almost worked 100%.

The only thing that didn't work was the Sky optical output would not work with a splitter. However, I can connect my amp to the creative using the headphone out. Okay, so it won't be Dolby Digital, but it should work fine.

The Joytech switch box works a treat and for £14 it's a very good solution to optical switching.
