Anyone have one if these? Does it have optical?

If anyone could let me know how good/bad these are i'd be grateful

No, it has headphone/speaker socket and a microphone socket. The X-Fi surround 5.1, does have optical though.

And that's for a laptop yeah?

EDIT: It seems that it struggles with high quality mp3s through USB. Do i have any other options or is this the best i can get?

Asus Xonar U1 is a decent alternative. Price seems to have increased where I have seen it. Not sure it's worth £60+ though. If you can't find it for less new, maybe look on MM or the famous auction site.

Firewire is a possibility. Not sure if there are any affordable ones. Other than that, only other type is PCMCIA/expresscard, but I think only the X-Fi notebook is the only affordable one that I know of.
