I just purchsed the above card from OCUK.

However, it appears this is an OEM card manufactured for DELL & HP.

Therefore, it is not listed on the Creative site. What drivers would I use if I want to upgrade from the ones that came on the install CD (which are probably yonks old)??

Not very happy about this. Yea I knew it was an OEM card, but I did not know it was non-standard. It's not an Extreme Music as advertised.

Its an updated Extreme Music minus the front drive bay connector and optical in/out on the backpalte replacing the connector for nthe external module as far as i can tell. The Extreme Music drivers should work with it. The extra bit of the name is just emphising its vista comaptible.

I doubt ocuk would sell DEll or HP cards, best to email creative and see what they say, or tey the auto update on the creative site and see what it detects your card as

What makes you think its a DEll or HP card?

I can't see the difference tbh, my card was advertised as "OEM" as well but downloaded the latest driver from Creative and installed without any problems with all the digital features like Dolby and what not fully functional. It also has an IDE connector for the front break out box.

It's on Creative's official website:

Your on about a different card to OP, it has different inputs/outputs and lacks the front bay connector

Okay, Mine turned up today and it's the same.

bonus: It has a standard front audio connector (which suggests that it is an OEM from Dell, Alienware, HP as the OP posted).

Could do with a response from OCuK on this, it doesn't seem to be the advertised product, but rather an XtremeGamer OEM that was initially targetted at the above 3 boxmakers.

and for drivers, the alienware ones are best generic, but if you really want some decent drivers...

My point Exactly, not as advertised. Non-standard, OEM product, with no official listing or support from Creative.

That's very strange, my card bought from a competitor is also a Dell OEM and the official driver from Creative works perfectly as if it was a retail card. It only came in an anti-static bag, 2 driver CDs.

I also have an SB0770 salvaged from a Dell workstation. Can anyone point me in the right direction to the official Creative driver please? I understand it might not work but I want to give it a try anyway.

Cheers

Aren't xtreme Gamers better than xtreme Musics anyway?

Or am I getting it confused with the xtreme Audio ._.

No, they're exactly the same, only that Xtreme Gamer has smaller profile and looks cheap. All X-Fi cards are the same, they charge more money for some useless extra X-ram and the Fatality brand on those cards. The new Titanium and Elite Pro can be slightly "better" but I doubt you could really tell the difference.

D'oh - I have ordered one of these that is being delivered today, as my m-audio revolution 7.1 is having a lot problems under Vista.

For those of you who have received theirs. Was it worth the cash?

Try the Extreme Music drivers from Creative.

I have the retail Extreme Music and as meatloaf said, the only difference in layout is the optical in/out and front bay connector.

If you have no problems with the drivers and your into beta testing, give the new Beta drivers a bash but you must also install the console launcher to reap the benefits. :)

Finally, they have pulled their fingers out of their bottoms. The retail card I have here runs flawelessly with Vista. I would also recommend installing the Alchemy drivers as I had a few issues with Crysis Warhead until I installed them.

When I open up my case tomorrow, I will look at the code of my card and let you know in case it differs which it looks like it does.

Edit: Just read on ocuk website that the cards do indeed have Optical I/O.
