I have just run into an annoying problem with my Creative Inspire P5800 5.1 speakers. The sub has stopped working completely. I have checked all the connections and they are fine, I have also tested all the other speakers, they work correctly. In the 5.1 test program, when I click the sub testing button I get only a small amount of noise from the center speaker. All the other speakers work how they are meant to, so I am sure this isn't a set up problem, especially as they where all working not so long ago.

Any ideas?

Nobody got any ideas ? :(. I don't really want to have to replace all my speakers just because the sub has stopped working.

Providing the connections are fine (including possible breaks inside the cable) then it sounds as if the sub has broken. Since you don't mention it making unusual noises or anything, it may be the connection to the driver itself rather than part of the amplifier. Either way, it's probably impossible to get at if it's like a creative sub I opened once, glue everywhere in it, nightmare.

So, pretty much ruling out being able to fix it yourself, you are left with 2 options. If its under guarantee, contact creative and just explain the situation. They'll probably want the whole set back though tbh, though i've heard of Logitech sending out new ones without the broken ones being returned. If it isn't, I guess you'll be looking at having to buy a new set :(

To check for broken cable, you really need a multimeter, preferably with continuity check. You also need to be able to acess both ends of the cable to probe them, I think you usually can. It's pretty rare, unless you've really knotted them, but it can and does happen.
