Creative X-FI Fatality I/O Drive Problems

Check the basics

Check the grey IDE looking cable between the soundcard and the module is put on properly... its so easy to slip it on wrong or miss one pin even.

Also check the floppys connected and reboot the pc and then give it another go:)

If u wanna see if its getting power take off the spdif connector (that little square thing) and see if theres a red light flashing thru.....

i had to unplug my floppy drive cus i had to use it to connect to the i/o drive

and the one that came with kit, is connected to the sound card so i have non left

**edit**

i have just been informed, that i may have a problem here because i am running server 2003 and that it is no listed as being supported

 You do not plug any POWER into the Soundcard, you plug it into a PCI slot, then a Ribbon Cable (I use a Rounded EIDE Modded Cable) from the Soundcard to the Front I/0 Bay (LineDrive), and only this gets Floppy Power.

Trying to run a Sever OS as a Multimedia one is a waste of time IMO, some will argue otherwise.

You need to enable Hardware Acceleration for the Soundcard in the Windows settings and install DX.

If you mean PCB, there is lots of pins for things that I have never needed.

I can assure you the Card needs no extra Power.

The story goes there is 2 Rev's and both have Power on card in diff locations, I don't use either, I power the Front bay only.

EDIT :

"Here is one more.

"The 4-pin power connector on the card itself is for the external I/O console. The internal drivebays (in the Platinum and Fatal1ty FPS kits) have their own power connectors. The power connector on the card is in case you want to upgrade later on by adding the Elite Pro's I/O console.

If a cable needs to be connected, then it will be detailed in the leaflet with the card. "
