Creative X-Fi Mic doesn't work in XP (but does in vista) ???

Hi guys. I can't work out why, in vista my microphone operates fine, with no problems, however in xp, with all most recent drivers installed and reinstalled I cannot get my microphone to pick up. The system dual boots and every time the mic works flawlessly in vista, but not at all in xp. I prefer xp personally so unless I need all 8GB memory I'd prefer to use that, but so far my mic not working means that when playing Left 4 Dead, I have to boot up in vista.

Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was using the front panel mic which didn't work in all apps in xp. So I've swapped it to the back. Fixed.
