I wonder if anyone knows if the problem with X-FI sound cards in nForce 4 motherboards (IE. cracking / popping noises etc.) has been sorted?
I've had a look at Creatives own forums and people still seem more than a little annoyed about this problem!
Creative seen to be blaming Nvidia for the problems from what I can see.
Must admit to being a little surprised to also see that there appear to have been no driver updates for these cards since the back end of last year!
It's just that I'm thinking of maybe getting a card to replace my onboard sound chip (no surprise it's a Realtek... an ALC 850).
Failing this, anyone got any suggestions other than a creative card? Was looking at £60/80 max.
Mind you, I suppose I do have a spare Audigy 2 ZS lurking around somewhere. Maybe this would be good enough for gaming!?
