Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer card question

Hi

Just built me first ever pc (though it isn't working due to a faulty 8800gtx) just my luck!!

Anyway, my questions is this. On the card there is a connector for aux power (floppy disk style power socket) does it need to be powered from that? As i can't find a reference to anyting about it. Help!!

You can tell im a complete noob at this!

Soundcards don't need external power

This connector is the external bay connector if you buy it sepereately

I don't think they ever will be really, sound processing does not require heavy calculation which draws enough power

I didnt connect it and apart from the occasional dimming of all the lights in the house and loud sparking noises from the case along with the smell of ozone, I think its fine

someone will come up with a way for a soundcard to require more power im sure.. x-fi is leaps and bounds ahead of the onboard sound. Im sure theyll keep moving it forward, faster processor more ram etc.
