So yeh, relating to the other xfi thread, mine came this morning, inserted etc and installed the software from the Creative website (I got the OEM one) and sounds appear to play but I get nothing from my speakers. Tried headphones, tested the speakers and they're fine.

Any ideas?

Check you plugged it into the right ports.

Check which sound driver windows is sending to

Onboard especially likes to reassert itself regardless of what you install, disable it in device driver and/or bios.

Test it with winamp

Onboard is disabled, all previous drivers were removed prior to installing the new card, it's using the Xfi drivers from the Creative website and I'm yet to test it with Winamp, but have tested with iTunes, Media Player and the sounds in Sounds & Audio Devices - all of which I know are working.

I shall try a different pci slot tomorrow, any other suggestions though? Could it be a faulty card?

What does it say under the audio tab of audio devices in control panel.

Which socket are you using on the back of the card and have you tried different cabling, etc

Give us your spec list, clear your startup group. Try safe mode, winamp can access the card directly (or at least slightly differently) I think otherwise the other apps are just testing the same driver interpretation by the os.
Try it in another machine
Remove and reinstall the drivers and try varying how you do that if it is not sucessfull, alter the install directory and other simple stuff

is windows on mute :) ?

check all sound volume, WAVE and MASTER are the main two that'll affect your volume

Dude send it to me and I'll see what I can do :D

What about conflicting software, mine conflicted with itunes with the full install. I had to just do the basic install

Wow so many suggestions thanks guys

Silversurfer, thanks for the ideas - I'll give them a go when I get home later tonight :) Also, it says SB X-Fi Audio (B000) under the Audio tab, I remember that.

Fixed!

Went into the Audio Console, then unchecked the automatically mute speakers when headphones are connected and it's fine :)

Thanks for the tips guys :D

Tried a different pci, reinstalled etc and still no joy - I presume a faulty card?
