Hey guys,
Am considering buying my first HDD mp3 player and am trying to figure out what I want. My mate has the Vision:m and it is a great little player, small and has loads of features. My main question is what are the differences between the Vision and Vision:m? The vision doesn't seem to be that much bigger then the zen but has a much nicer screen. Both music and video is equally important to me. Any advice and pointers would be more then welcome!

From what i have found out, the vision is big, doesnt have a touch pad, has a replacable battery

The vision:m is smaller, touch pad, integrated battery

Main diff is the battery and screen from what i have read. Dont think the vision would fit in a normal pocket.

i hear its hard to get movies on, i would consider a archos 604 if i was you, or the older av500
thats if u want a pmp

otherwise vision m all the way

I admit, it does take quite a while to convert the movie files or tv shows if they are an unsupported format, but most are playable straight from the off.

Can it play the usual mpeg and divx straight off or does it need to convert them? And does anyone know where you can get this clear armour stuff in the UK without going through fleabay?

Cheers

converting / encoding video IS a time consuming thing ! thats probobly the reason most of us on these boards overclock ! lol

ive had all the Zen playersf from the touch to the vision:M
and the reviewss and awards speak for them selves. it is a truly awsome thing. its hard to believe so much fits in the plam of your hand to be honest.

but video conversion has nothing to do with the player, its pretty muchg based on the performance of your PC.

you could always buy an Ipod lol. which i think only accept one type of movie file iirc

plays most mpeg, think only the really old ones arent played. Plays xvid, not sure about divx
yup does divx, also cos it accepts 640 and 320 it should work with most vids on the net

The vision:m is brilliant. Had mine for about a week now and love it now. Just recently fitted a BSE skin to mine to protect it from scratches.

It plays almost all divx files I've thrown at it, and even quite a few wmv's which was unexpected. Mpg's, which I have little of require conversion which doesn't take long depending on the file size.

So far I've got a brickload of xbox 360 game trailers/interviews on mine all downloaded from xboxyde which are already all divx. Also got a few seasonal episodes of Red Dwarf. Haven't had to do much converting atm though.
