Hi There,
I spent quite a bit of time looking into these and the short answer is they are pretty good, but the Archos 605 is better. The main problems with the ZEN is that it's really quite big and clunky, I've also heard reports it's playback of Xvid is not very smooth.
I bought an Archos 605 last week and the quality of the video playback is incredible - would definitely recommend if you're after something for playing back movies/TV.
You may also want to look at the new iPod touch, I can't imagine video playback will match the Archos but they're much smaller and inifinetly sexier!
