Hi there

I just installed this in my computer but, it shows up in devices but I can't enable it. I get a message saying the device is not enabled/connected etc. I am connected to the TV by a HDMI cable from the GPU. Will this not send the signal from the PC soundcard? Do I need to connect the soundcards by the outputs on the card to the tv itself?

Thanks

If you're using HDMI to anything with an audio output, like an AV receiver or TV, then there is no need for a sound card.

Are you not getting sound on the TV?

I have sound from Nvidia High Definition Audio, GPU HDMI to TV HDMI. I thought I could just plug in a better quality card and it would automatically work. But I think I need to connect the card via the outputs on the card to the TV itself to make use of the soundcard. But my card is analogue and TV has no analogue inputs. So will just return the card and stick with the current sound.

Yeah, you need to use the analogue outputs on the sound card to make use of it. Probably quite rare to find a TV with analogue audio input now. I wouldn't expect there to be a noticeable difference anyway, to be honest.

TV speakers are too limiting when it comes to sound quality.

I run the sound from my STX (RCA cables) and my TV (3.5mm to RCA x2) to a pair of Edifier R1600T speakers - bonus is a massive improvement to TV sound, so win win :D
